POACHED PEAR AND CRANBERRY MARTINIS

POACHED PEAR AND CRANBERRY MARTINIS

This is my most festive cocktail recipe for the holidays and it’s wicked easy to pull off. You could also make a big pitcher of it sangria style if you’re hosting a big gathering. Cheers!

Serves: 4
Total time: 35 minutes
Difficulty level: easy

You’ll need:
1 pear, thinly sliced
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
750 ml bottle vodka or pear flavored vodka
1 cup cranberry juice
1 bottle or can sparkling water (flavor of your choice)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground of fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon cloves
Ice & a martini shaker (If you don’t have a martini shaker, you can use a glass jar with a lid)

Let’s do it!

  • To prepare the poached pear simple syrup, combine sugar, water and spices in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the sliced pears (reserve a few to use as garnish), reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. It WILL smell amazing.

  • Strain the syrup to remove the pear pieces and refrigerate until ready to use. You can also flash chill it in the freezer if you want to use it ASAP.

  • To make your martinis, fill the martini shaker or jar with ice. Add 2 tablespoons pear syrup, 4 tablespoons vodka and 1/2 cup cranberry juice. Shake to combine, then pour into a martini glass, straining out the ice. This will make about 2 martinis.

  • Top off with sparkling water to taste and garnish with fresh pear slices.
